Newport in Bloom

Promotion

Founded in 1982, Newport in Bloom is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization that promotes the beautification of Newport Rhode Island through the planting of gardens and flowers.

Tasked with rebranding Newport in Bloom from the ground up, the team was given the following design brief:

–Create a new logo and tag line to appear across multi-marketing platforms.

–Leverage the imagery of “Classic” Newport.

–Create a stationery suite, including letterhead, envelope and business cards.

–Create a series of posters and banners to be displayed throughout the city of Newport.

–Design a complementary digital footprint (website) to serve as a searchable reference guide for users, as well as an additional advertising vehicle.

Borrowing from the sophisticated sensibilities of art deco posters, a series of floral illustrations were created, featuring extravagant scale and color. The deco font Mostra was chosen to invoke a classic feel, with text aligned left and right to complement the geometric form of the floral imagery.

Posters, banners (large scale) and business cards, envelopes and letterhead (small scale) were created that both represented the beauty and boldness of flowers, while leaning into the nostalgia for the golden age of Newport.
